Dr. Laura Dorsey-Elson is an Associate Professor in the department of strategic communication and has served on faculty since 2001. She currently serves as the Chair of the University Council (a faculty/staff governing body on campus), directs an annual leadership conference called MSU "Explorations in LeadershipTM" for undergraduate and graduate students and advises the MSU chapter of the National Society for Leadership & Success.

Dr. Dorsey-Elson is a Senior Fellow at the James MacGregor Burns Academy of Leadership (now located at Cambridge University in England) and has been elected to a three-year term on the national board of directors for the A.K. Rice Institute for the Study of Social Systems. Her most recent publication examines the effective use of College Media and Leadership Training (Peter Lang, 2017). Her favorite quote comes from Mahatma Gandhi: "You must be the change you wish to see in the world."

Research Interests: Intersections of communication, leadership, culture and conflict as well as best practices in teaching undergraduate courses in composition/oral communication
