Professor LaMonte Summers is a college educator with more than two decades of teaching experience at major institutions. He has taught a wide range of journalism and mass communication courses, with a specialty in communication law and ethics and media literacy; developed courses to fulfill a university's diversity requirements; advised student-operated college media; and co-directed a Basic Course Program.

He contributes a weekly media report to First Edition with Sean Yoes, a daily current affairs program on Morgan's WEAA (88.9 FM) and occasionally appears as a press commentator on Philadelphia's WURD (900 AM), The Nick Taliaferro Show. 

Since 2015 he is SGJC's elected representative to Morgan's University Council and, since 2016, is an elected member of the UC Executive Board (Executive Secretary). He also serves on Morgan's Judicial Affairs Board, Self-Study Re-Accreditation Committee, SGJC's ACEJMC Self-Study Taskforce and he is a member of AEJMC, Broadcast Education Association, MMTC, and NABJ.  He is also a member of the Massachusetts Bar.

Research Interests: Press freedom challenges and restrictions; Hidden cameras as a journalistic practice, legal right and ethical act; Social media platforms as private quasi-news outlets; Citizen journalism: legal and ethical challenges to traditional journalism 

Teaching Interests: Global media; law and ethics; media literacy in a diverse world; entertainment and sports law; media advocacy, online social movements, and civil rights; and minority and women media ownership
