Denise Cabrera is a veteran journalist and educator. In a career that spanned more than 25 years she has worked as a researcher, reporter, editor, news manager and executive for newspapers, television and a wire service. They include USA Today, The Washington Times, NBC News, The Frederick News-Post and the Associated Press. She was the first African-American woman to serve as a domestic bureau chief at the Associated Press, running the Baltimore bureau for seven years from 2000-2007. Cabrera also has taught journalism at the University of Maryland, College Park and Loyola University, Maryland.
