"Hands on the Wheel, Eyes on the Road" Campaign

Principal investigator: Dr. Mansoureh Jeihani

Using a driving simulator and eye-tracking software, investigators will show the effects of distractions on driving performance, and make an educational video about their findings. The video will be distributed to schools and colleges, as well as on social media and the internet.

The eye tracking system combined with the driving simulator allows the PI to record eye movement along with speed, lane changing, crashes, and near-crashes. Young participants from different socio economic backgrounds will be recruited to drive the simulator with and without a cell phone, engaging in activities such as texting and using social media.

The project is expected to be completed in late March of 2018.
