Degrees and Majors

The Department of Teacher Education and Professional Development offers several programs to support both pre-service as well as in-service educators.  Acquisition of the skills and knowledge associated with the art of teaching is one of the most interesting ventures among all of educational pursuits in our present society.  Knowledge of subject matter and competency in applying this knowledge in teaching and learning situations are real demands made by a successful teach and can only be acquired through training, study and experience.  


Elementary Education

The Department of Teacher Education and Professional Development offers courses and learning experiences designed to prepare candidates for an elementary school teaching career where they learn to embrace communities and transform schools.  

Master of Arts in Teaching Program (M.A.T.)

The dual degree Master of Arts in  Teaching Program is a 5 year B.S/B.A. and Teacher Certification Program that integrates graduate coursework and the undergraduate experience, allowing candidates to earn both a B.S./B.A. and M.A.T degree within 5 years of study.

Education and Supervision M.S. Degree & Certificate

The Administration and Supervision Master of Science Degree and the Administration and Supervision Certificate are programs designed to prepare and certify talented teacher leaders to assume a leadership role at the elementary school, middle school, or high school level.
