Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance

The Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (HPERD) awards degrees in two majors, Health Education and Physical Education.

Within the Physical Education Major, there are academic concentrations in the areas of Dance Education (a teacher's--kindergarten through grade twelve--approach to the field of Dance), Pre-Professional Physical Therapy (a preparatory orientation to the field of Physical Therapy), Recreation and Parks (a leisure education and administration approach), Sports Administration (the business approach to the world of sport),  and Teacher Education (a teacher's--kindergarten through grade twelve--approach to Physical Education). Each concentration leads to a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education with specialties in the respective areas.
