Two new tenure-track faculties, Dr. Monir H. Sharker and Dr. Iman Dehzangi are hired in Fall 2017. Dr. Monir is conducting research in Data Science and Dr. Iman has good expertise in Bioinformatics field.

we would like to welcome Dr. Dillon as a new faculty in the Dept. beginning from January 2017. He is coming from the University of Florida, CIS Dept. where he has been a postdoctoral fellow, and that he did his PhD from the Univ. of Alabama and undergraduate degree from Univ. of Mississippi - both in CS.

If your intended teammates do not apply with your team name by Wednesday, October 26th, you will be considered as an individual.

Prof. Prabir Bhattacharya Chairs IEEE Conference:
Prof. Prabir Bhattacharya would chair two technical sessions at the IEEE 7th Annual Ubiquitous Computing, Electronics & Mobile Communication Conference (IEEE UEMCON 2016) to be held during October 20-22, 2016 at the Columbia University in New York City. Also, he would give an oral presentation at the conference of a refereed paper on mobile network security.
A Decision Support System (DSS) for Breast Cancer Detection:
The project "A Decision Support System (DSS) for Breast Cancer Detection Based on Automated Mass Detection, Classification, and Retrieval of Mammograms" was selected to showcase on the Morgan Innovation Day at Annapolis, MD on March 15th, 2016. This project intends to develop a Decision Support System for Breast Cancer Detection of Mammograms based on using Image processing, Pattern Recognition, and Machine Learning techniques. Dr. Md Rahman and Nuh ALPASLAN (Visiting Scholar from Turkey) are currently working on this project.
Wlcome Dr. Prabir Bhattacharya:
Dr. Prabir Bhattacharya joined Morgan State University as a new Computer Science department chair and professor from September 2, 2015. Ealier he was with University of Cincinati, Ohio where he had been a chair of the Computer Science department from 2009 through 2012.

Dr. William Lupton Retirement Luncheon:
On August 20th 2014, the Department of Computer Science held an intimate retirement luncheon for Dr. W. Lupton to commemorate his decades of service as Chairperson of Computer Science Department at Morgan State University. The event was held at Stoney River Restaurant in Towson Town Center from 12pm to 2pm. The guest of honor and his wife were accompanied by twelve other guests, which included faculty and staff from the Computer Science department (including the interim Chairperson, Dr. V. Stojkovic), as well as faculty and staff from the Physics and Engineering Departments. Guests were treated to a lovely three course lunch as Dr. Lupton regaled those in attendance with stories of his days as a Navy pilot, and his experience as the chairperson, while each guest offered well wishes and their own accounts of the personal impact he has made on them. The Computer Science Department also presented Dr. Lupton with an engraved stein as a homage to his "next chapter" (as well as his reputation as an avid fan of the Baltimore Ravens football team). The Computer Science department thanks him for his service and wishes him all the best in his retirement years.
