Statement from the Public Health Alumni Chapter at Morgan State University on the Supreme Court Ruling on the Affordable Care Act

Baltimore, MD - The ruling of the Supreme Court today,  is a national breakthrough and a tremendous victory for  Baltimore City, and all the counties in the State of Maryland. The health of the people is the stronghold of the nation and without it, a nation cannot be productive. This ruling on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is in line with the vision for quality of life supported by preventive care as opposed to sick care and indicates the current Administration's commitment to making sure that everyone in this country receives what they have the right to, under the United Nation's Constitution: health care is a human right, not a privilege. This ruling is a major step in the government's effort to eliminate health disparities. For Baltimore City, where every health disparity has persisted for decades, this is a victory and for the Public Health Alumni of Morgan State University, this is a sign of hope that our leadership will not be in vain. read more...
