Community Organic Vegetable Garden

In 2010, the idea for a community garden emerged from the Food and Nutrition Pre-Professional Club membership which led to the inception of the COVG a year later. The garden was conceptualized to serve as a means to encourage community members to cultivate the land to produce nutritious fruits, vegetables and herbs and to improve eating habits. The garden is serving as a catalyst to improve nutrition, promote wellness and address hunger and obesity in the local Baltimore community. We are gaining community support, encouraging a sense of environmental responsibility and creating partnerships within the University and the broader community. The COVG is organized with elected officers who play a valuable role in its success.
