A landscape architect with a background in architectural history, Sarah Trautvetter graduated with a Master of Landscape Architecture and Architectural History from the University of Virginia and with a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural History also from the University of Virginia. She has worked with several offices, including Ayers Saint Gross in Baltimore and Graham Landscape Architecture in Annapolis, where she most recently worked on the award winning P Street Residence in Washington, DC. Sarah is continually inspired by the tension between contemporary and historic spaces. Growing up in Boston's Beacon Hill and now living in downtown Baltimore, she often engages the two typologies, creating residential and civic spaces that have contemporary resonance within historical contexts. Exploring the interplay between natural and urban, plants and pavers, in a method reminiscent of paint on paper, her work exhibits a sensitivity to texture and detail to make places of lasting quality and delight. She is currently working on the Old Dominion University Landscape Master Plan, in Norfolk, Virginia.
