Department:     Center for Career Development

Duties:   Provides administrative and clerical support in the Center for Career Development; serves as the initial contact for students, employers, and administrators; provides general information to visitors; coordinates the daily activities of the office; composes, proofreads, and edits correspondence; prepares reports, charts, and graphs; screens and distributes incoming mail; screens and directs telephone calls and visitors; schedules meetings and appointments; orders supplies and monitors inventory; arranges maintenance services; supervises Work-Study students and maintains their schedules and time sheets; updates and maintains databases; records minutes of staff meetings; processes room requests; attends evening and weekend seminars and workshops; assists students with job searches by providing available resources; refers students to employment resources; assists students with on-line programs; oversees the Career Resource Room and Computer Lab; assists with career fairs and other events; prepares electronic and hard-copy mailings and registration material for career events; assists with the maintenance of the department’s web page; represents the director at meetings; explains and monitors the use of career assessments, including SIGI 3; and performs other duties, as required.

Minimum Qualifications:   High School Diploma or GED.  Two (2) years of office experience providing secretarial/administrative support, which included the production of documents using automated equipment and software.  Demonstrated ability to type at least 45 wpm.

Requirements:  Knowledge of practical application of office practices, procedures, and equipment; knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, grammar and arithmetic; skill in operating manual and automated office equipment; skill in performing arithmetic calculations; skills in keeping clerical records; skill in preparing reports; ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple assignments with only general instructions; ability to compose general correspondence; ability to communicate effectively; ability to interact with public, employees, and students in a courteous manner.
