Department: Physical Plant Department

 

Duties: Provides engineering and architectural support; prepares drawings for building construction, architectural floor plans, remodeling or equipment installation, landscape sites, mechanical and equipment layout and other structures;  prepares  charts, diagrams and graphs for presentations; utilizes computer graphic reproduction, photographic equipment and computer assisted design and drafting software, e.g., AutoCAD, REVIT to accomplish all required work; captures and stores all related  data,  both electronic and in hard copy format, in a user-friendly, systematically categorized manner  that is readily accessible  within a centralized area; maintains and updates electronic and hard copy system; prepares color visual aids and illustrated presentations, publications and display material; performs other duties, as required.   

Minimum Qualifications: Completion of a formal two year training program in architectural drafting.  One (1) year of work experience in architectural or engineering drafting.

Requirements: Knowledge of the principles and techniques of architectural or engineering drafting; knowledge of building, electrical and construction codes; knowledge of algebra, plane geometry, trigonometry and basic mathematics including area, volume, and the practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions; skill in applying the principles and techniques of architectural or engineering drafting; ability to prepare engineering and architectural working drawings, detail sketches, and preliminary designs; ability to use drafting tools and equipment; ability to indicate materials and their matter of assembly in neat, clear and complete drawings from sketches and diagrams; ability to interact and communicate effectively with professional architects and engineers; ability to produce drawings manually or by using a computer aided design program.
