 Department:     Office of Student Success and Retention

 Duties:  Executes and participates in the retention efforts in the College of Liberal Arts; coordinates the overall student retention activities in their respective college, school, or institute; facilitates, implements, and evaluates retention activities; works with the Dean to create a retention model that is consistent with the Strategic Plan mandated by the Office of Student Success and Retention and the Director; evaluates peer tutoring and skill building, mentoring student development, academic advisement and academic probation; assists with the ACCESS Orientation Program and other campus-wide retention initiatives by proctoring the placement exam and advising first-time students; prepares data reports as requested by the Director; attends and participates in meetings, conferences, and presentations, as requested by the Director; communicates with students by defining and implementing a plan that helps them stay on track in fulfilling degree requirements; provides assistance, and support in clarifying students values and aims; plans academic programs consistent with student interests, abilities, responsibilities, aspirations and educational experiences; collects and maintains data for specific populations; advises students on college policies and procedures; reviews plan of study with students; provides one-on-one sessions; documents daily contact with students; administers a high-level of customer service to ensure student retention; creates a professional and student-centered environment that meets the objectives, mission and goals of the university; maintains a relationship with faculty to address student needs; assists with orientation and registration of first year and transfer students; provides students with current and accurate curricular information and interprets academic policies; provides students with correct academic information regarding the University and requirements for selected degree programs; refers students to institutional services; assists students in the development of course study; and performs other duties, as required.

Minimum Qualifications  Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field, one year of experience working with post-secondary students.

Preference:      Experience in Higher Education; Knowledge of BANNER.

Requirements:   Knowledge of program or project planning and implementation; knowledge of research and tracking methodologies; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications; skill in the delivery of good customer service; ability to multi-task; and the ability to communicate effectively.
