Department:                      Sponsored Programs & Research


Duties:   Assists the Vice President, Acting Vice Presidents, and the Director by  providing administrative and clerical support to the department;  prepares and reviews manuscripts, correspondence, charts, forms and other materials; coordinates workshops, conferences, and seminars; develops and maintains faculty contracts and grant award databases; assists with special projects; maintains logs and files for all grants, contracts, and other agreements; prepares minutes; organizes and prioritizes work; serves as a back-up to the Grants Administrator; seeks funding opportunities; follow-ups on high level contracts; requisitions office supplies and maintains inventory; screens and distributes mail; screens telephone calls and visitors; makes travel arrangements; ensures confidentiality of information; and performs other duties, as required.

Minimum Qualifications:  High School Diploma or GED.  Two (2) years of office experience providing administrative support, including the production of documents using automated equipment and software applications.  Demonstrated ability to type at least 45 wpm.  Must complete the university’s clerical skills test.   

Preference:     Knowledge of and skill in Banner applications.

Requirements:     Knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment; knowledge of business English; excellent communication and customer service skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; skill in operating manual and automated office equipment; skill in maintaining clerical records; ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times; ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to interact with the public, employees, and students in a courteous and efficient manner; ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments with only general instructions; and ability to communicate effectively.
