Department: English and Language Arts Writing Center

Duties:   Provides administrative and clerical support to the Director and staff; manages the front desk; prepares correspondence, charts, forms and other materials; sets-up and maintains files; assists in preparing and administering office accounts;  enters, updates and retrieves information stored in files and databases; opens, sorts and routes mail; receives telephone calls and visitors; creates and posts daily appointment schedules; orders and stocks supplies, makes campus deliveries and pick-ups; manages use of the mini-lab of computers in the Writing Center; acts as a liaison between students using the mini-lab and Graduate Writing Tutors; attends and presents reports at staff meetings; sends electronic appointment/registration verifications; uses automated equipment such as facsimile machines, personal and network computers, printers, copy equipment, voice messaging, electronic mail, and telephone systems; and performs other duties as required. 

Minimum Qualifications:   High School Diploma or GED.  One year of office experience, providing administrative and clerical support, e.g., involving the production of documents using automated equipment and software.  Demonstrated ability to type at least 40 correct wpm.  Must successfully complete the university's clerical skills test.

Preferred:  Ability to create Power Point or Prezi presentations; ability to maintain spreadsheets in Excel.

Requirements:  Knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment; knowledge of business English and grammar; skill in the Microsoft Office Suite; skill in the use of automated office equipment; skill in word processing; ability to produce documents using automated equipment and office equipment; ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to interact with the public, employees, and students in an efficient manner; ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments, with only general instructions; ability to communicate effectively.
