Department:  Physical Plant Department

Duties:  Supervises a small group of Housekeepers within the Physical Plant Department; ensures the cleanliness, orderliness, and attractive condition of building interiors; trains, instructs, and evaluates assigned staff; determines work priorities; plans, schedules, assigns, and reviews work of  designated personnel; supervises housekeeping activities in assigned areas, including  vacuuming carpets, washing furnishings, windows, tile, fixtures, equipment, and floors; supervises the removal and transport of refuse from assigned areas to appropriate disposal locations; ensures proper maintenance of cleaning materials and supplies; orders and delivers new supplies; performs and demonstrates procedures for mixing cleaning solutions according to specifications; loads and transports service carts with required materials and supplies to designated areas; assists with snow removal; secures assigned areas by closing windows and locking doors; assists in recycling operations by collecting items to be recycled and ensuring that they are taken to the designated area; inspects and reports physical conditions of assigned areas to appropriate personnel regarding repairs, replacements, furnishings, and relocation of equipment; and performs other duties, as required.

Minimum Qualifications:  Three years in housekeeping in a lead or supervisory capacity.

Requirements: Knowledge of the procedures, equipment and supplies used in housekeeping; skill in the use and maintenance of housekeeping tools and equipment; skill in the selection and application of  housekeeping chemicals and supplies; skill in providing guidance and training to others;  ability to plan and supervise the work of housekeeping personnel; ability to operate assigned tools and housekeeping equipment; ability to work with chemicals and cleaning solutions; ability to communicate instructions effectively; ability to lift and transport supplies and refuse; ability to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
