Department:      Center for Career Development (CCD)

Duties:  Provides overall leadership in the development of the University’s vision and plan for career advising, career counseling and career services for students and alumni; develops and implements  short and long term organizational goals for the daily operations of the unit; prepares and executes an annual budget; oversees critical processes, systems and activities, including student registration and participation in electronic career planning, career counseling, and job search training activities; recruits, trains, and supervises CCD staff; develops procedures for assessing and understanding the career needs of students and alumni; evaluates CCD services, systems, and tools; collects and disseminates data, especially that data related to student job placements, career choices, and first-job-out-of-college; supervises work study students, and maintains their schedules and timesheets; maintains databases related to CCD functions; maintains general office files; orders and maintains inventory of office supplies; processes room requests for employer information sessions; assists students with job searches by providing available office resources; assists students with on-line programs and activities; supervises the Career Resource Room and the computer lab; prepares mailings; publicity, and registration materials for career day and other career events; assists in maintenance of the department’s web page; represents the director at meetings and on-campus events; makes presentations; prepares correspondence, including brochures and newsletters; and performs other duties, as required.

Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university; Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in career development or other closely related field.

Preferred:   Master’s Degree

Requirements:  Knowledge of database, portfolio and web-based technologies; knowledge of research in college student development and career development; knowledge of CAS (Counsel for the Advancement and Standards in Higher Education) and the Self-Assessment Guides for Career Services (SAGs); ability to provide career counseling; ability to lead; ability to conduct workshops and presentations; and the ability to communicate effectively.
