Department:       Office  of Sponsored   Programs Division of Research                                                                      

Duties:  Works with the Assistant Vice President for Research Innovation and Advocacy to seek grant funding opportunities; develops and responds to opportunities for available grants; coordinates and interacts with Grants Specialists, Directors, Assistant Vice Presidents, and faculty regarding  opportunities, ideas and capabilities; provides extensive technical assistance and editing during proposal preparations; prepares drafts for selected grants and selected contracts based on faculty input; prepares concept papers for circulation to funding agencies, members of congress, etc; works with faculty to improve their grant writing skills and provide workshops on relevant OMB Circulars; stays current and remains knowledgeable of government grant policies, formats and deadlines dates; works with the Assistant Vice President for Sponsored Programs and Research on Maryland Research and Applied Sciences Consortium; monitors agencies websites for sponsored programs and related policies; organizes and provides support for cross-disciplinary teams during the pre-award phase; visits agencies to build relationships and networks on behalf of the University; oversees projects and programs; provides technical assistance during proposal preparation;  performs other duties as required.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              

Minimum Qualifications:    Bachelor’s Degree in English, Business, or any Science or related field.  Five (5) years of experience in business development and grant proposal writing.

Preferred:   Master’s Degree

Requirements:  Knowledge in government grant policies; ability to write proposals; ability to work as a team; ability to multi-task; ability to use computer software; ability to communicate effectively; knowledge of grant submission and review process.
