Department:    College of Liberal Arts 

Summary:  The Associate Dean of Faculty and Administration reports to the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, and assumes a central role in the day-to-day management of the dean's office, as well as manage the Dean office's finances, projects, and initiatives to ensure University compliance.  Has an in-depth understanding of policies, processes, and programs at the College of Liberal Arts and how they support both the College's and University's missions.                                                                                                                   

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing all faculty curriculum processes in accordance with the University and College policies and priorities of the Dean;

  • Overseeing programs and processes that promote collaboration and community and regional linkages in support of University and College goals;

  • Overseeing the academic year, winter session, and summer session course schedules, and is responsible for academic assessment planning throughout the College;

  • Overseeing the dean's finances activities;

  • Overseeing College facilities in accordance with University and College policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure optimal space utilization for instructions and research as well as a physical work environment to meet the needs and goals of faculty, students, and staff in the College;

  • Providing high-level administrative support to the Dean, working with a wide range of internal and external constituents, including faculty, University leaders, external professional consultants, and alumni/ae;

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires an earned doctorate in a relevant discipline and a teaching and scholarly record meriting tenure at the Associate or Full Professor rank in an academic unit within the College;

  • Seven years' professional and administrative experience including supervisory and program/project management;  

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, excellent problem solving, communication, and organizational skills;

  • Strong financial background including budget management and financial analytical skills

  • Familiarity with the policies and procedures governing academic and intellectual life;

  • And a strong commitment to inclusivity and diversity within the campus and surrounding communities.
