Department:   Earl S. Richardson Library

Duties:   Performs a variety of detailed, moderately complex technical support duties within one or more  functional areas of the library, requiring skill in and understanding of established library methods, procedures and use of specific library tools; provides general information on the use of library services and facilities; answers questions from library users; instructs users in the use of library systems and equipment; communicates with the Bursar's Office to verify data; provides back-up from historical digitals files;  searches for cataloguing copies of library materials in any format on using Romanized characters; makes adjustments to print and online records in accordance with cataloging policies and procedures; enters data to the online information management system; checks-in and enters new materials into the library's automated systems; maintains online claim system on non-receipt of materials; posts, codes, and processes invoices for payment; inputs data into the automated acquisition system; identifies and resolves problems related to invoices; searches standard print and online sources to verify bibliographic information and availability; instructs others in creating bibliographic records, acquisitions or interlibrary loan requests, ensuring completeness and accuracy; and performs other duties, as required.                                                                                                                   

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED.  Three (3) years of experience directly related to the primary duties of the position.

Preferred:   Previous work experience in an academic library environment .

Requirements:   Knowledge of library services, practices and procedures; knowledge of the nature and function of libraries; skill in alpha and numeric filing; skill in operating a personal computer and  the ability to learn library software; ability to input and retrieve information; ability to communicate effectively; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with library users and staff; ability to work independently and exercise initiative in applying rules, procedures and instructions; ability to pack and unpack library material.
