Department: Office of the Dean (School of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences)
Duties: Manages and supervises the daily administrative and clerical operations in the Office of the Dean School of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences; provides administrative and clerical support; assists the Dean in the implementation and coordination of administrative duties; coordinates the activities of the Dean’s Office with the overall School; assists with faculty and staff hiring; supervises lower level staff, contractual and student employees; prepares contracts packets; maintains and gathers information for the School’s database; drafts and clarifies policies and procedures; assists the Dean with inquiries, problem resolution, and other confidential matters; handles special projects; drafts, types and revises correspondence; receives and screens telephone calls and visitors; makes travel arrangements; provides guidance and instruction to the office support staff; and performs other duties, as required.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Three years of office experience providing administrative support, which included the production of documents using automated equipment and software. Demonstrated ability to type at least 50 wpm by completing the University’s Clerical Skills Test.
Requirements: Knowledge of office procedures, practices, and equipment; knowledge of business English; skill in Microsoft Excel and Access; skill in operating manual and automated office equipment; ability to work and think clearly under pressure; ability to understand and follow directions; ability to communicate effectively; ability to interface with the public officials, students, and staff in a courteous and efficient manner; ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments, with only general instructions; ability to direct and guide lower level clerical support personnel.
