Department: School of Computer Mathematical and Natural Sciences (SCMNS)
Duties: Assists in managing the daily operations of the School of Computer Mathematical and Natural Sciences; provides administrative and clerical support to the Dean and Associate Dean; assists with coordinating the activities of the Dean's Office and the School; prepares and reviews correspondence, charts, and forms; proofreads materials; establishes and maintains files; orders and maintains inventory, equipment and related services; screens telephone calls and visitors; schedules and coordinates meetings and appointments; makes travel arrangements; assists in coordinating School activities, e.g., Open House, Senior Honors, Award Banquets, Commencement activities, etc.); takes minutes; schedules meetings; prepares and submits travel vouchers and expense reports; gathers data; ensures confidentially; relays messages and instructions between the supervisor and others; exercises independent judgment and initiative where guidelines and procedures have been established; utilizes automated equipment such as facsimile machines, personal and networked computers, printers, copy equipment, voice messaging, electronic mail systems, and telephone equipment; and performs other duties, as required.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Two (2) years of office experience providing administrative support, which also included the production of documents using automated equipment and software applications. Demonstrated ability to type at least 45 wpm by completing the university's clerical skills test.
Requirements: Knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment; knowledge of business English; skill in Microsoft Office Suite; skill in operating manual and automated office equipment; skill in maintaining records; ability to communicate effectively; ability to work and think clearly under pressure; ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times; ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to interact with the public, employees, and students in a courteous and efficient manner; ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments with only general instructions.
