Department: Biology Department
Duties: Provides administrative and clerical support to the Chairperson of the Biology Department; coordinates daily activities of the office; uses automated equipment; greets and interviews visitors; responds to inquiries and requests; reviews, routes and prioritizes mail; schedules meetings; compiles and develops agendas and minutes; maintains inventory of supplies and equipment; processes and maintains purchase orders; retrieves data; develops and coordinates processes for fiscal procedures; assists in preparation of annual reports; assists in the coordination of departmental activities; supervises lower-level clerical and work-study students; prepares travel arrangements and itineraries; ensures confidentiality; and performs other duties, as required.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Two (2) years of office experience providing administrative support, which also included the production of documents using automated equipment and software applications. Demonstrated ability to type at least 45 wpm by completing the university's clerical skills test.
Preferred: Knowledge and expertise in Banner applications.
Requirements: Knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment; knowledge of business English; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; skill in operating manual and automated office equipment; skill in maintaining clerical records; ability to work and think clearly under pressure; ability to maintain a professional demeanor; ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to interact with the public, employees, and students in a courteous and efficient manner; ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments with only general instructions; ability to communicate effectively.
