Department: Academic Outreach and Engagement
Duties: Under the direction of the Vice President for Academic Outreach and Engagement, (VPAOE), the Director of Morgan Online provides leadership for the development, implementation, and administration of Morgan State University's online courses and degree programs; enhances the online programs and offerings throughout the University; ensures that Morgan online programs comply with University policies and procedures, the Maryland Higher Education Commission (i.e., State) and US Department of Education; works with staff, faculty, department chairs, deans and senior administrators in developing appropriate economic models; establishes University policies to support the business of online and distance education; increases the scope, breadth, and diversity of online programs at MSU; improves retention and graduation of students; enhances the quality of the education experiences and instructional support services for students; prepares contracts for faculty teaching online and distance education courses; administers the Online Course Design Workshop that enables faculty to create online courses that meet quality metric rubric standards; serves as Morgan's liaison to Maryland Online (MOL); focuses on the needs for university support for online programs emanating from other institutional offices; contracts and maintains vendor relationships with online and distance education vendors for current technologies and software; establishes campus wide customer support of distance learning technologies; insures compliance with university, state and federal requirements, guidelines, and laws; works with the VPAOE on operational and strategic planning decisions; coordinates timely and accurate preparation of records and reports, budgets, contracts, financial statements, and other financial reports; develops, modifies, and implements new operating procedures; develops budgets; supervises staff; participates in community activities, professional organizations and meetings; serves on university committees; creates excellent customer services experiences for online students; and performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Masters' Degree. Five (5) years of progressive experience in teaching and/or administering online degree programs; experience with budgets and financial analysis in higher education.
Requirements Knowledge of online and distance courses; knowledge of policies and procedures governing online and distance courses; knowledge of state and federal guideline; skill in preparing budgets and financial analysis; skills in effective communication; skill in Microsoft and automated systems; ability to negotiate contracts and vendor relationships.
Preferred: Knowledge of BANNER.
