Department: Office of General Counsel
Duties: Assists the General Counsel, and other attorney(s) with routine aspects of legal and factual data compilation and analysis, drafting legal documents, and conveying legal information under supervision; conveys routine information to university administrators regarding legal and/or contractual issues associated with existing or proposed operational situations, such as conducting routine and specific legal and factual information research and data compilation, as directed by attorneys; drafts legal position statements for attorney review pertaining to various specific policies, operational practices, and/or transactions; drafts and reviews policies and procedures for consideration by attorneys and for ultimate adoption by the institution; compiles, reviews, and organizes evidence and other information for internal hearings, and meetings; drafts and reviews contracts to be entered into by the institution; provides hardware and software computer support for the office; and performs other duties , as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Post secondary degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of one year experience directly related to legal support functions; or a post secondary degree in paralegal or legal assistant studies.
Preferred: Knowledge of Adobe, Acrobat and Photoshop.
Requirements: Knowledge of the principles and procedures of legal research; knowledge of hardware and software trends as they relate to the legal field; knowledge of contract formation and documentation; ability to communicate and work effectively with a range of constituencies in a diverse community; ability to create, compose and edit written materials.
