Introduction: The School of Global Journalism & Communication (SGJC) is currently recruiting for a Tenured Associate/Full Professor & Department Chair. Interested candidates should have a strong desire to advance the mission of one of the largest Historically Black Colleges and Universities in Maryland.

Duties:
Providing leadership for the department of Strategic Communication; teaching two courses per semester; evaluating faculty and staff members; conducting searches for full-time faculty; recruiting and providing hiring recommendations; developing schedules for classes; recruiting students; encouraging faculty research, professional activity and professional development; preparing reports required by SGJC or by the University; engaging in departmental fundraisers and performing other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have achieved a Master's Degree in Strategic Communication or a related field from an accredited University with experience as an instructor of record.

Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate should have achieved a Doctoral Degree in Strategic Communication or a related field from an accredited University. A record of participation in a professional organization is a plus.

Requirements: Must have evidence of effective University teaching, service and a record of research or a creative or professional activity that would merit tenure at the rank of Associate or Full Professor; possess a strong commitment and the ability to relate well with others within a multiethnic and multicultural diverse student population.
