Department: Strategic Communication
Introduction: The Department of Strategic Communication is recruiting for a full-time Assistant Associate Professor. Interested candidates should have a strong desire in executing the goals of the department, which will advance the mission of the School at one of the Nation's largest Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).
Duties: Teach a range of undergraduate courses and be able to integrate theory and practice; assist in providing supervision in The Strategy Shop; value a role as a teacher, mentor, and academic advisor to undergraduate students; teach students how to craft a Strategic Shop Communications Campaign that incorporates both traditional methods and a broad range of digital (especially social) media; appreciate the value of visual communication as a part of the strategic communication process and be able to teach those skills; conduct class observations; participate in regular meetings to ensure faculty members stay on track throughout the tenure process; participate in professional and academic organizations and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate must have achieved at least a Master's Degree in Strategic Communication or a closely related field from an accredited College or University, coupled with significant professional experience and connections.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have PhD in Strategic Communication or a closely related field with professional experience.
Requirements: Candidate must be proficient with standard industry software and should value the creative and artistic uses of production media; be able to teach across platforms and be interested in developing interdisciplinary partnerships across the University and beyond.
