Introduction: The Department of Civil Engineering is recruiting for an Assistant/ Associate Professor (Tenure-Track). The candidate will serve a full-time, nine and a half (9.5) month academic appointment. Interested candidate should have a strong desire in executing the goals of the department, which will advance the mission of the School at one of the Nation's largest Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).
Duties: Teaching Environmental Engineering courses such as Environmental Engineering I and II, Biological Wastewater Treatment, Water Supply Engineering, Physical and Chemical Treatment of Wastewater and Hazardous Waste Management; developing and sustaining a nationally competitive research program; providing academic advising to 20-30 undergraduate students; providing instruction in accordance with course descriptions; evaluating student learning skills and abilities; maintaining records of student evaluations; submitting reports on attendance and grades in a timely fashion; attending departmental meetings; assisting the Chair with writing proposals; pursuing funded research in the following areas Emerging Contaminants, Sustainable Urban Green Infrastructure, Advance Treatment Technologies of Water and Water Waste, Bioremediation and Ecological Engineering and performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate will have achieved at least
a Doctorate Degree in Environmental Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university. The candidate must have experience as an instructor of record.
Requirements: Should be a registered professional Engineer or demonstrate progress toward becoming registered; prior experience in with a track record of excellence in teaching, grantsmanship, research and peer review publications; evidence of curriculum development and the ability to relate well with others within a multiethnic and multi culturally diverse student population.
