Introduction: The School of Social Work is currently recruiting for an Administrative Assistant I. Interested candidates should have a strong desire to advance the mission of Morgan State University, one of the Nation's largest Historically Black Universities (HBCU).

Duties: Managing day to day operations for the Chair of the Social Work Master's Program; preparation of travel request; screening and distributing incoming mail; screening telephone calls and greeting visitors; preparing and reviewing manuscripts, correspondences, charts, forms and other materials; scheduling and coordinating meetings and appointments; utilizing automated equipment such as facsimile machines, personal and networked computers and printers, copy equipment, voice messaging and telephone equipment and performing other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED with two years of office experience providing secretarial or administrative support.

Requirements: General knowledge of and skill in the practical application of office practices, procedures and equipment; skill in operating manual and automated office equipment; ability to perform arithmetic calculations; ability to compose general correspondence, maintain clerical records and prepare reports from various information sources; ability to produce documents according to alphabetic and numeric sequence; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and interact with the public, employees, and students in a courteous and efficient manner; excellent organization skills, ability to prioritize and execute multiple and continuing assignments with general instructions.
