Introduction: The Office of Student Success & Retention is currently recruiting for a Retention Specialist/Program Coordinator. Interested candidates should have a strong desire to support the mission of one of the Nation's largest Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).

Duties: Serving as the liaison for students within the five and six year graduation cohorts; assisting students with financial clearance, graduation audits and the graduation application and clearance process; identifying gaps and overlaps in existing campus financial literacy programs and facilitating coordinated efforts when appropriate; contributing to the 411 Parents News Letter and University Parent Guide at least once per year; participating in retention activities, campus-wide meetings or conferences as requested by the Director; contacting students every June and January to check in on their registration status, finances and academic progress; contacting students who haven't registered for Fall and Spring semesters to remind them to register immediately for courses; monitoring the course schedules of all students within the 5th and 6th year graduation cohorts for Fall and Spring semesters, comparing current courses with Degree Works and submitting reports to the Registrar and Vice President with all concerns including missing courses and outstanding requirements; providing recommendations to the Assistant Vice President for Student Success and Retention based upon research findings, reports and the evaluation of existing retention initiatives and performing other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from an accredited College or University with at least five (5) years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications: A Master's Degree in any discipline from an accredited College or University.

Requirements: Ability to work independently and multi-task, work well with others and function in varied campus environments; ability to exercise sound judgement and handle confidential information; strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent written and verbal skills.
