Department: Physical Plant

Introduction: The Physical Plant Department is recruiting for a Groundskeeper. Interested candidates should have a strong desire to support the mission of one of the Nation's largest Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).
Performing grounds maintenance activities; cultivating, planting, watering, fertilizing, weeding, mowing and pruning lawns, gardens, shrubs, and trees; direct the removal of trash and debris from assigned areas; removing snow and ice from assigned areas during winter months using hand and power snow removal equipment; assisting in the maintenance of outdoor field and athletic facilities; operating equipment such as mowers, tillers, sweepers, snow blowers, shovels and small vehicles and performing other duties as required.

Requirements: Ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations; ability to follow instructions; ability to operate hand and power tools and other equipment; ability to perform minor maintenance to equipment; ability to perform work in, on and around trees, shrubs, buildings and facilities; ability to perform physical work requiring bending, stooping, reaching, carrying, and frequent heavy lifting; ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions; ability to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
