Introduction: The School of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant I in their Chemistry Department. Interested candidates should have a strong desire in advancing the mission of one of the Nation's largest Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).

Duties: Assisting the Dean and Associate Dean with facilitating requests as needed; screening telephone calls and answering inquiries; covering front desk calls; overseeing incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence for the Deans' signature; initiating and following through on Work Order requests with the Physical Plant, Hospitality and Maintenance Departments; preparing and reviewing manuscripts, correspondences, charts, forms and other materials; scheduling and coordinating meetings and appointments; utilizing automated equipment such as facsimile machines, personal and networked computers and printers, copy equipment, voice messaging and electronic mail systems and telephone equipment and performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED with two (2) years of secretarial or administrative support experience.

Requirements: General knowledge of and skill in the practical application of office practices, procedures and equipment; skill in operating manual and automated office equipment; ability to perform arithmetic calculations; ability to compose general correspondence, maintain clerical records and prepare reports from various information sources; ability to produce documents according to alphabetic and numeric sequence; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and interact with the public, employees, and students in a courteous and efficient manner; excellent organization skills, ability to prioritize and execute multiple and continuing assignments with general instructions.
