Introduction:
The Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant I. Interested candidates should have a strong desire to support the mission of one of the Nation's largest Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).

Duties: Providing assistance and directly supporting the Department Chair and staff; composing responses to routine inquires in accordance with general instructions, policies and procedures; updating and retrieving information stored in files and databases; customizing special reports; monitoring and updating time, leave, inventory, budgets and account records; ordering supplies, equipment, repairs and services; screening and distributing incoming mail; screening telephone calls and visitors; scheduling and coordinating meetings and appointments; preparing travel arrangements and maintaining records of travel itinerary; ensuring and maintaining confidentiality and performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma GED and at least two years of office experience providing secretarial or administrative support.

Requirements: General knowledge and skill of office practices and procedures; ability to perform arithmetic calculations; ability to produce documents according to alphabetic and numeric sequence; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; skill in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite software; ability to communicate effectively; ability to interact with the public, employees, and students in a courteous and efficient manner; must possess skills to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments with general instructions.
