Introduction: The Psychology Department is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant I. Interested candidates should have a strong desire in advancing the mission of one of the Nation's largest Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).

Duties: Providing administrative, secretarial and clerical support for the Psychology Department, under supervision of the Department Chair; monitoring and updating budget and account records, inventory and employees time and leave sheets; maintaining student files; scheduling and advertising meetings and events; recording minutes at meetings as needed; ordering supplies, equipment and repair services; preparing expense reports; maintaining confidential information; gathering data and preparing reports; screening telephone calls and visitors; answering inquiries according to general instructions and departmental procedures and performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of office experience providing secretarial or administrative support.

Requirements: General knowledge of and skill of office practices and procedures; ability to perform arithmetic calculations; ability to produce documents according to alphabetic and numeric sequence; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to communicate effectively; ability to interact with the public, employees, and students in a courteous and efficient manner; must possess skills to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments with general instructions.
