Introduction: The Patuxent Environmental & Aquatic Research Laboratory (PEARL) Department is recruiting for a Facilities Coordinator. Interested candidates should have a strong desire in advancing the mission of one of the Nation's largest Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).

Duties: Conducting the operation and maintenance of the flow-through seawater system in support of aquatic research; providing technical and mechanical support for researchers to conduct experimental design and setup; drafting policies, procedures and budgets as related to PEARL Facilities; monitoring and troubleshooting mechanical equipment related to building operations; operating and providing maintenance for all vessels and vehicles and performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate must have achieved a Bachelor's Degree in Biological or Natural Sciences from an accredited College or University and at least one (1) year of related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications: A USCG license and Mechanical or Electrical Engineering coursework is a Plus.

Requirements: Must have open water certification and vessel operating certification; Strong background in boating, watercraft safety and operations; must have strong mechanical and supervisory skills; experience in working with research projects, educational programs and laboratory activities; ability to quickly respond to major and minor emergencies on a daily basis in support of scientific research.
