Introduction: The Physical Plant Department is recruiting for a Housekeeping Chief. Interested candidates should have a strong desire in advancing the mission of one of the Nation's largest Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).

Duties: Developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for both supervisors and staff; managing, coaching, training and evaluating all evening shift Housekeeping Supervisors; managing and monitoring the quantity and quality of work performed by outside contractors; assisting Housekeeping Supervisors with the development and management of an annual budget for the Housekeeping Department; performing the responsibilities of the Housekeeping Supervisor in his or her absence; approving time sheets; enforcing disciplinary actions when necessary; producing documents to secure potential vendors through the procurement process and performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate must have achieved a High School Diploma or GED with at least six (6) years of experience in housekeeping which includes four (4) years in a lead supervisory capacity and one (1) year of basic maintenance support work.

Requirements: Kknowledge of the procedures, equipment and supplies used in housekeeping; skill in the use and maintenance of housekeeping tools, equipment and the application of housekeeping chemicals and supplies; experience in providing guidance and training to others, overseeing a large housekeeping unit and selecting applicants for employment; ability to plan and supervise the work of assigned housekeeping personnel; ability to estimate supply and equipment needs; ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to lift and transport supplies; ability to wear and work in personal protective equipment; ability to write reports.
