Introduction: The School of Global Journalism & Communication (SGJC) is currently recruiting for a Membership Director. Interested candidates should have a strong desire to support the mission of one of the Nation's largest Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).
Duties: Executing the planning, implementation and coordination of operational functions that directly support annual giving and indirectly strengthens giving initiatives including: on-air fundraising events, direct mail campaigns, tracking gift income, newsletter development, grant writing and membership activities; executing and planning on-air Spring and Fall Membership Drives; maintaining databases; creating promos for on-air membership solicitations; providing phone bank set-ups; creating cue cards and introductions for show host and co-pitchers; providing profiles and scheduling the timing of mail campaigns; cultivating strong relationships with members and donors and performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate must have achieved a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications or a related field from an accredited College or University and at least two (2) years of experience in non-profit development, including direct mail campaigns and on air fundraising work.
Requirements: Knowledge of membership management systems, knowledge of public radio operations; ability to coordinate fundraising events, Skills in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite; ability to update and monitor database programs; ability to provide guidance and instruction to others; ability to operate computers and other standard office equipment; ability to communicate effectively and cultivate a culture of giving on campus and within an expansive listening community.
