Department: Financial Aid

Introduction: The Office of Financial Aid is currently recruiting for a full-time Financial Aid Counselor. Interested candidates should have a strong desire to execute the mission of one of the Nation's largest Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).

Duties: Reviewing applications and determining eligibility for financial package awards; maintaining and updating files; providing counsel on all matters concerning availability of financial aid, procedural steps, alternative budgets, resources, and problem resolution; performing need analyses, preparing appropriate correspondence and reports; providing helpful, accurate information to students and parents; conducting workshops and participates in professional development activities to keep abreast of financial aid regulations and other duties; serving as both a member of the Financial Aid Policy Committee and the Financial Aid Appeals Committee and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate would have achieved a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Accounting or a closely related field from an accredited university and at least two (2) years of related experience, in a financial aid environment.,

Requirements: Knowledge of Microsoft office computer software; knowledge of Ed Express, COD, NSLDS, and Banner processing software skill in word processing software; ability to coordinate work with personnel of other departments; ability to provide advice and guidance; ability to communicate effectively.
