Department: Library
Duties: Heads the Reference Section of the library; plans, administers, and coordinates the reference and bibliographic functions and services of the library; develops, updates, and maintains the reference collection; provides formal and informal bibliographic instruction, orientation, and tours; coordinates information literacy activities, government documents, and other direct services to library clientele; conducts faculty and graduate student workshops; insures the smooth operation of the unit; compiles monthly, annual, and other special reports, as needed; updates and maintains auxiliary reference file collections; acts as liaison with other departments; serves on various library and university committees; attending and participates in professional workshops; and performs other duties, as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Masters in Library Sciences; degree from an ALA – accredited program; Five years of progressive responsibility experience in reference services, using electronic resources preferably in an academic setting.
Requirements: Knowledge of information technology trends in libraries; Knowledge of electronic reference resources; Ability to provide and promote information literacy.
