Department: Library
Duties: Heads the Multimedia section of the Library; manages all non print resources; administers and maintains the Library’s collection of microforms, sound recordings, slides, audio and videotapes, along with the equipment needed to access them; provides assistance and guidance in the use of the materials; trains, supervises, and evaluates support staff and student assistants; reviews and recommends materials and equipment for purchase; supervises the maintenance of microfilm and audio-visual collections and their upkeep; provides general reference assistance; evaluates materials and equipment; develops and interprets the department’s policies and procedures; publicizes the department’s resources via displays, posters, lists, etc.; oversees the maintenance of equipment; supervises supply inventory; provides assistance as a member of the Library’s Web team; assists in covering the general reference desk and performs other duties, as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Masters in Library Sciences; degree from an ALA – accredited program; Five years experience with microfilms, audiovisual materials and multimedia technologies; preferably in an academic setting
Requirements: Knowledge of information technology applications and equipment; Knowledge of electronic multimedia references; Ability to manage a library’s collection of multimedia resources
