Department:   Soper Library

DutiesThe Library Assistant will receive, sort, and distribute mail and packages to various departments in the library; process and shelve all print serials; deliver serials (journals, microfilm, etc.) to various library departments; assist in claiming missing issues; re-shelve and record statistics for journals and newspapers used by library patrons; oversee reading of shelves; and maintain order in the serials areas, within the department.        

Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma

Requirements:   Skill in alphabetic and numeric filing; ability to learn and understand library terminology and functions; ability to communicate effectively; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with library users and staff; ability to lift, transport, sort and shelve library materials; ability to operate standard library and office equipment, including personal computers and library software, photocopiers, microfilm and microfiche readers.
