Department: The Office of Academic Affairs
Duties: The Office Assistant will assist the Office Manager and Administrative Assistants in the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Duties and responsibilities will include assisting in maintaining records and filing systems; coding, combining, copying, sorting, scanning, and filing documents according to defined procedures; assembling and compiling basic data according to specific instructions; utilizing manual and automated methods to enter and retrieve data; receiving and directing calls and visitors; responding to general inquiries regarding office operations; preparing and assisting in bulk mailings and conference materials; operating office equipment such as single and multi- line telephones, personal computers, typewriters, facsimile machines, photocopiers, and scanners; maintaining inventory and records; ordering supplies and request forms as needed; requesting orders from the University Print Shop and coordinating the pick-up; and other duties, as required.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED.
Requirements: Knowledge of practical applications of office practices, procedures, and equipment; ability to read, spell accurately, and write legibly; ability to communicate effectively; ability to operate manual and automated office equipment and keyboards; ability to file documents according to alphabetic and numeric sequences; ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to maintain affective work relationships; to perform arithmetic computations.
