Department: The Academic Development Center
Duties: The Administrative Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the office and staff of the Academic Development Center. Performs a variety of administrative duties in support of the office and faculty of the department; types a variety of documents with accuracy; assists in the maintenance of the file systems; processes mail; answers telephones and screens and directs calls that come to the office; maintains routine office operations; documents all assignments for the office; maintains an understanding of the Center’s programs, policies, and procedures; assists with report preparations; communicates well with all staff members and visitors; maintains appointments; and performs other duties, as required.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Two years of office experience, which includes the production of documents using automated equipment and software. Demonstrated ability to type at least 45 wpm.
Requirements: Knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment; knowledge of business English, excellent communication and customer service skills; knowledge and expertise of Banner applications; skill in Microsoft Excel and Access; skill in operating manual and automated office equipment; skill in maintaining clerical records; ability to work and think clearly under pressure; ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times; ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to interact with the public, employees, and students in a courteous and efficient manner; ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments, with only general instructions.
