Duties:
The Assistant Coordinator will assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational, cultural, social, and recreational programs for students and the campus community. Responsibilities include planning for conferences, lecture series, fairs, student/faculty events, banquets, and concerts. Assisting in the supervision and monitoring of the Office of Student Activities staff. Assisting in advising the Student Government Association, and other student clubs/organizations in the development and execution of their activities and events; executing the annual registration of all student organizations, supervising student government elections, planning and overseeing freshman orientation activities and summer programs. Serving as the advisor for the National Pan-Hellenic Council for the University. Coordinating and producing the Mr. and Miss State University Coronation and spring pageant; and serving as a representative on various campus committees (i.e. Freshman Orientation and Homecoming), negotiating contracts for campus engagements, attending functions as the on-site University representative and serving as a chaperone for off-campus functions. Monitoring compliance to University policies and procedures as it relates to the University Student Center and Office of Student activities. Performs other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in student personnel, counseling, higher education or related field from a fully accredited institution. At least two (2) years of supervisory and relevant experience in the area of student affairs/activities.
Preferred Experience:
- At least two (2) years of supervisory and relevant experience in the area of student affairs and/or student activities.
- Experience in directing pageants/coronations or large scale events
- Ability to design and produce marketing and promotional materials; and a working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Publisher.
Requirements:
Knowledge of fraternity/sorority systems and cultures; strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to establish close working relationships; ability to effectively interpret and communicate policies and procedures related to the University Student Body.
