Department: Office of Student Affairs

Duties: Serves as the university's principal designated school official, ensuring compliance with all government regulations regarding international students, staff, and faculty; facilitates preparation of I-20 forms to allow new international students to contact U.S. embassies in their respective home countries and apply for a visa to enter the United States; evaluates legal student status and approves Student Exchange Visitor Information Systems (SEVIS) applications; monitors international students academic progress to comply with SEVIS regulations; determines eligibility for optional practical training (OPT) and facilitates recommendations to USCIS for necessary work permits; resolves problems on behalf of international students; directs the completion of all U.S. government forms; file reports, as required, and completes student tracking as required by SEVIS; directs and conducts information orientations for new and transfer international students; works collaboratively with Human Resources(OHR), in providing assistance to employees in obtaining the H1B Visa and other documents; supervises monitoring of international students' enrollment progress; directs students to appropriate services; directs extra-curricular activities; and provides guidance that will enhance the personal and academic well being of the international student body.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in student personnel, counseling, higher education or related field from a fully accredited institution. Five years of increasingly responsible experience in college or university international student office, that is SEVIS compliant.
* Master of Science Degree preferred.

Requirements: Ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds; ability to work collaboratively with various campus stakeholders (admissions, faculty, administrators, honors program, retention etc.); ability to effectively address international student needs. Preferred evidence of active membership in NAFSA (to include completion of relevant professional practice workshops).
