Department: Estuarine Research Center

Duties: The Estuarine Science Research Assistant will contribute to a 25-year ongoing monitoring program focused on plankton in the Chesapeake Bay area, which is a component of the Chesapeake Bay Water Quality. Assistant will participate in water quality and phytoplankton monitoring cruises; laboratory analysis of chlorophyll and primary productivity (14c) samples; field, laboratory, and management of data collected in phytoplankton monitoring program.

Minimum Qualifications: Qualified candidates should posses a Bachelors of Science Degree from a fully accredited institution. Master of Science Degree is preferred. Previous experience with small boat handling, spectrophotometry, radioscopes, phytoplankton culturing, taxonomic identification of algae, report preparation, and data management skills are essential. Proposal writing ability and publication writing skills are a plus. Must work well with others and be the center of a team of five (5).
