Department: Office of General Counsel
Duties: The Associate General Counsel provides direct professional support to members of the President's staff in a number of technical and legal areas, including: initial review and drafting of proposed contracts; preparing correspondence; research; preparing material for the Office of the Attorney General; providing technical assistance to campus offices with respect to federal, state, municipal, and University regulations/ policies; serving on advisory and search committees; representing the University in proceedings before federal and state agencies.
Minimum Qualifications: Qualified candidates should posses a Jurist Doctorate admitted to practice before the highest court of state; Maryland bar preferred. A minimum of seven (7) years experience in the above areas is required. Superior writing and verbal skills are essential. Proficiency in legal research, constitutional law, education law, contract review and negotiation, litigation and/or litigation-support and personnel administration is desired.
