Department: Office of Residence Life
Duties: To serve as receptionist and provide administrative and clerical support to centrally located staff in the Office of Residence Life; answer, relay and respond to incoming telephone calls and general inquiries, regarding the Residence Life Program; greet visitors to the office; responds to inquiries from students about on and off-campus housing possibilities, fees, the application process, etc.; work with various Microsoft applications, complete and process work orders; schedule meetings and appointments; type purchase requisitions and other documents; open and distribute mail; open and distribute mail; receive housing applications, deposits and prepayments; post all checks and money orders; coordinate office opening and closing procedures, e.g., opening and securing the building, turning on and shutting down office equipment; and provide assignments and instructions to student workers engaged in clerical work.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. One year of office experience, which included the production of documents using automated equipment and software. Demonstrated ability to type 40 words per minute.
Requirements: Working knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment; of English, spelling, grammar, and arithmetic; skill in operating manual and automated office equipment; of computer software packages, including word processing and databases; to perform arithmetic calculations; ability to file documents according to alphabetic and numeric sequence; to understand and follow instructions; to communicate and interact effectively; to interact with the public, employees and students in a courteous and efficient manner. Knowledge of Microsoft software applications preferred.
