Department: Educational Talent Search Program

Duties:To provide clerical support functions to the Program Director/ Coordinator of the Educational Talent Search Program (ETSP) and to program staff. Maintain and update computer databases; Assist in the coordination of planned program activities and events; Assist in the coordination of planned program activities and events; Gather materials, obtain documents and background information for reports and other purposes in accordance with specific instructions; ensure confidentiality of information; Schedule and coordinate meetings and appointments; Make travel arrangements following specific instructions and keep travel itinerary. Open, sort, route mail, and assist with bulk mailings. Sets up and maintain simple files; Assist in preparing and administering office accounts and records; Enter, update, and retrieve information stored in files and databases; Serve as receptionist by answering telephone inquires and directing participants to appropriate internal and external resources and personnel; and Perform other clerical duties as assigned by Program Director- Coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. One years of office experience, which included the production of documents, using automated equipment and software. Demonstrated ability to type 40 words per minute.

Requirements: A working knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment as well a working knowledge of business English, spelling, grammar, and arithmetic. Familiarity with computer software packages, including word processing and databases; Skill in operating manual and automated office software; to perform arithmetic calculations; to file documents according to alphabetic and numeric sequence; to understand and follow instructions; to communicate effectively; to interact with the public, employees ad students in a courteous and efficient manner.
