University Police Officer II

Job# 2006-011

Department: Police & Public Safety

Job Summary: This is the proficient level of sworn Police Officer position. Under general supervision, participates as instructed in specialized unit activities. Satisfactory completion of the Maryland State Police Training commission recognized or approved Police Academy Training program and successful completion of a Police Field Training program.

Duties: Patrols designated areas, maintains a visible presence to deter crime; responds to calls for assistance and emergency services; conducts surveillance serves warrants and summonses; conducts preliminary and follow-up investigations; apprehends, detains, and processes violators; prepares and completes a variety of detailed reports and forms to support investigations; prepares cases; appears and testifies in court; etc.

Note: The intent of the primary duties is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities of this job. Incumbents perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED, Valid Maryland Non-Commercial Class C or equivalent driver’s license. Certification as a sworn Police Officer recognized by the Maryland State Police Training Commission.

Salary: $29,828 to $45,158
